Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 8: Members of Mahajan and Khatri communities, who helped Bharatiya Janata Party, to win 25 out of 37 assembly seats in Jammu region in 2014 assembly elections in J&K have been left to fend on their own by the leaders, whom they had voted for. The present dispensation is enforcing a rigid land law which had been dumped by all the previous regimes. The law prevents Mahajans, Khatris and Sikhs to buy or sell the agricultural land. Members of these communities have been running from pillar to post to get this “discriminatory” law amended but no one is paying any heed towards their pleas. “Mahajan and Khatris have played a major role in BJP’s emergence in Jammu region and have supported the party in every possible way. It’s unfortunate that the communities that helped BJP to defeat the other parties are facing discrimination,” said a member of a Mahajan community. COVID-19: JK reports 151 new cases

Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 8: The Government on Wednesday informed that 151 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 21 from Jammu division and 130 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 326310. Also one COVID death has been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 163 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 20 from Jammu Division and 143 from Kashmir Division.
