Bivek Mathur
Jammu, Mar 20: Senior Congress leaders including some sitting cabinet ministers and Ex- Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the decision of Congress High Command over announcement of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad as candidate for the prestigious Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat.
Minister of State Cooperatives (Independent) charge Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma welcomed the decision of party high command saying-"High Command has done a commendable job by declaring Azad Saheb as the candidate after continuous suspense over the Doda-Udhampur Lok Sabha seat as he is the leader of the Awaam (leader of the masses) and people wanted him to serve the way he has served the state during his tenure as Chief Minister of the state".
Bhau Singh, Ex-Minister of Jammu and Kashmir cabinet, describing Azad as apt candidate for the seat said that the development that has been witnessed during Azad's tenure as Chief Minister is unforgettable in all the three regions of the state including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
"State has shown remarkable growth in Health Sector owing to understanding of Azad Saheb about the vulnerable areas in health sector and adequate funds have/had been given to the state for working on these areas. So the decision of the High Command is the decision of commoners", said former Minister Prem Sagar Aziz who hails from Bani.
Similarly Jugal Kishore, now MLC and former Minister said that candidature of Azad Saheb is well in the interest of general public and his victory is obvious because of his ground level knowledge of the areas falling in the Lok Sabha seat.
Similar were the views of Ex-MLA Girdhari Lal Chalotra, Senior Congress leader R S Pathania from Ramnagar, Ashwani Khajuria, Senior Congress leader from Udhampur, Naresh Sharma, Senior Congress leader from Kathua who also described the decision in the interest of general public and wished Azad for his candidature.
