New Delhi declines to clear 500 PMGSY projects | | | Arun Singh Jammu, Apr 26: In another setback to the state Government, more than 500 projects of tenth phase under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadark Yojna (PMGSY) sent to Government of India have not been sanctioned till date as a result works on new road connectivity and upgradation have been pushed back. Sources told Early Times that above 500 PMGSY projects under tenth phase duly cleared by State Advisory Committee sent to Union Ministry of Rural Development in 2013 but same has not got cleared as yet. "Under these projects approximately 4500 kilometers of road including new road connectivity and up-gradation had to be executed but with the delay in sanctioning of projects, the expansion road works could not be started," they said further adding that the delay has been attributed to the poor performance of state Government in executing central funded projects. They further said that the withholding of these projects by centre Government will directly impact on the projects in its next phase eleven. "If projects have been sanctioned by the central Government, the tenders would be floated on time and works on the new roads and upgradation would be visible on ground level," they said. "Central Government has reprimanded state Government many a time for its poor performance in executing central funded projects and directed to expedite overrunning works and asked to fix responsibility of the concerned officials so such situation may not be faced by the state in future," sources said. |
