Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 26: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and candidate from Srinagar Parliamentary constituency Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat has said that AAP will press for fresh probe into mysterious killing of Haji Yousuf.
In a statement issued here, AAP leader said that senior National Conference (NC) activist, Haji Syed Mohammad Yousuf Shah, who died in police custody bore clear torture marks on his body after post mortem was conducted on his body, but the Government didn't allow a proper and transparent probe.
Family of Haji Yousuf had demanded resignation of Chief minister Omar Abdullah and Minister of State (MoS) for Home Nasir Aslam Wani and a probe by CBI into the incident but no heed was paid to their repeated requests.
"If the family members of the deceased demanded that the case be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for probe why this probe was not conducted? Why didn't Govt allow this probe?," questioned Dr Muzaffar.
The involvement of MoS Home into the killing is beyond any doubt. CM and Home Minister should step down and the case be probed by CBI or some other independent agency," brother-in-law of the deceased Syed Mohammad Hussain said several times.
Haji Syed Yousuf's son, Syed Talib had also said that MoS Home is directly involved in the killing of his father.
Meanwhile, AAP leader addressed several public meetings in Chadoora constituency. He addressed meetings at Zoolwa, Batpora, Wathoora, Kultreh and its adjoining villages. Muzaffar told the gathering that if elected to Lok Sabha he will raise issue of custodial killings and enforced disappearances in the Parliament.
