As Fotedar's criticism gets loud, Cong Ministers cosying up with veteran leader | Holding separate meetings to avoid 'bad ratings' in feedback report | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 10: Senior most leader in the Congress party and close aide of Gandhi family, Makhan Lal Fotedar has made PCC leadership and ministers uncomfortable for his frontal attack on both during the last few days. On an uneasy aisle for brazen criticism by the veteran leader, almost all party ministers on backfoot are now trying to do their bit to avoid 'bad ratings' in the feedback Fotedar will present to High command when he returns back to New Delhi. Fotedar arrived on a weeklong visit to Kashmir on last Wednesday and is scheduled to leave on June 13. Sources said a day after Makhan Lal Fotedar blamed ministers of the party for drubbing in LS polls, almost all have been making a beeline to Government Guest House where he is staying in Srinagar. The ministers are meeting him separately not only to seek his 'blessings', but mainly out of fear that he may report everything about everyone with regard to grievances and complaints he listened from party workers and cadres during the last few days. Fotedar minced no words in strongly criticizing the ministers for failing to keep rapport with the workers and supporters on ground level, which he contended was one of the reasons of defeat in LS polls. Sources said the ministers and some senior leaders of PCC are also trying to make efforts that Fotedar doesn't present a 'grim' picture of the state unit, its functionaries to high command about their role towards strengthening party and the amount of hardwork each one of them put in ensuring victory of coalition candidates. Almost every day apart from holding separate meetings, some of them have been inviting Fotedar to their residences apparently in order to keep him in good humor lest he presents them in bad light in his feedback report. Fotedar has also been openly critical against PCC president Prof Saif-u-Din Soz which became evident when he attacked him while responding to issue of NC taking credit of enhancing retirement age of employees. Fotedar, it is pertinent to mention, had used the expression of 'sleeping' for Prof Soz saying that Omar did so as the latter was in slumber, implying that Congress was not quick enough to come forth in making the announcement. Sources within the party said on the basis of the interaction with Congress workers across the Valley the veteran party leader has been conveyed that almost all the party ministers failed to develop a constant rapport with the masses on the ground level and never bothered to look into their problems nor would acknowledge feedback from the grass root level workers. Fotedar, according to sources is also learnt to be quite unhappy with the manner PCC has been functioning in the state which is why he is directly hitting upon Soz. Fotedar is said to have pointed out on their face that both PCC leadership and the ministers have not been able run the coalition government in a desired manner. It is this apprehension of Fotedar might give bad rating in his feedback to high command, which is prompting ministers to cosy up with the veteran leader in their own ways
