BJP likely to announce candidates for Assembly polls on July 31, new faces may be preferred

Jammu, July 24 : Though all the other parties have announced their candidates for the coming Assembly elections, there has been a delay on the part of BJP in this regard and the party is yet to announce even its first list of candidates.
Congress party, National Conference and PDP have already announced their candidates and are trying to draw political mileage out of it. The state unit of BJP is, however, still undecided on the names of its candidates. As per sources, there is a sharp difference among leaders on the names of probable candidates and that is one of the reasons for delaying the list of candidates. BJP in its mission of 44 plus seats wants to put winning candidates in all the constituencies but some local leaders want old faces to be repeated. The central leadership and local young brigade want to give preference to new faces over the old guard.
When this correspondent spoke to the BJP spokesperson, he said by the end of this month, probably on July 31, BJP will announce its first list. When asked regarding the delay, he said, "We have to take everyone into confidence and do proper consultation with central leadership."
He added that the reports of BJP announcing its two lists of candidates are totally wrong and baseless. BJP has not yet announced any list of candidates for the coming assembly elections so far. The people who are saying like this are basically spreading rumours and have been ignorant about the facts. BJP is fully committed to get maximum success in assembly elections and will achieve the target of plus 44 on its own, he said and added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narinder Modi, anything is possible.
