Kathua, July 24 : Two handcuffed accused, one held in a theft case and the other in a bovine smuggling case, ran away from Rajbagh police station in the wee hours of Thursday morning. SHO Jatinder Singh Sambyal, Headconstable (Munshi) Angrej Singh, Headconstable (duty officer) Sohan Lal and cop Gharu Ram, who was on sentry duty have been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty. The incident was said to have taken place at about 2 am. Neeraj Sharma, held in a theft case, and Nazakat Hussain, held in a bovine smuggling case, who were handcuffed and tied to the railing inside the police station, made good their escape. They were taken out of the lockup and tied to the railings after they complained of chest pain.SSP, Kathua, Mohan Lal, when contacted, said that , acting swiftly, police again captured Neeraj while a hunt was on to arrest the other absconder. He said additional SP, Kathua, Yogesh Sharma has been entrusted with the responsibility of departmental inquiry into the incident. |
