KU Controller violates statue | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 25: The Kashmir University authorities have trashed its own set rules related to the conduct of Post graduate examinations by unlawfully amending them. Highly placed sources in the Varsity told Early Times that Controller of Examination, Prof Abdul Salam Bhat has set his own guidelines for conducting post graduate examinations which, according to sources, is a gross violation of the university statue in its rule book. Sources also revealed that Prof Bhat has vested powers to the heads of the different departments to conduct examination on their own and to appoint question paper setter which is against the university statue. "He has even given them authority of conducting of evaluation of answer book to the department itself, where as the rule is that answer scripts of two semesters are to send outside university for evaluation," sources said. An official said, "for changing a statue it has to be placed before the academic bodies and if there is any urgency to make any change in the rule then the proposal can be sent directly to the Chancellor to seek permission. This was not done in this case." According to the sources, KU Controller of Examination has got approval from the former Vice Chancellor, Prof Talat Ahmed to amend the statues of KU, but according to the sources, VC is not the competent authority to make any amendment in the statue. "If all the examination related process is to be done by the department then what is the fun having examination block if all the confidential work is done by the concerned departments," sources added. |
