Bhalla reviews rescue, relief operation | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 13: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla today said that large number of people trapped in the floods were rescued by Army, SDRF, NDRF, police etc from flood hit areas of Kashmir Valley to safer places. This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the stranded people at Srinagar Airport here today. He expressed sympathies with the affected families and issued directions to the officers to immediately undertake rescue operations so that the loss of life and property could be minimized. The Minister directed the Revenue Officers for carryout assessment of losses to ensure immediate relief is provided to the affected people. He asked the district administration to provide medicines, tents, tarpals, ration and other required faclities for all the flood hit families. Regarding restoration of damaged public infrastructure including road connectivity, drinking water supply, power, the Minister asked the concerned officers to ensure that all works are done on priority so that damages are restricted to the minimum and people do not suffer due to non availability of required men and machinery. |
