We will do our job: Army

JAMMU, Sept 13: Disturbing reports of stone pelting and attacks on security forces involved in the rescue operations by some rogue elements are regularly emanating from Srinagar, most parts of which are still under water and where about four lakh people are still trapped and struggling for their life. These attacks are, as per credible sources, being provoked by separatists. It is heartening to note that the Army and other forces involved in the rescue and relief operations continue to save the lives of the people surmounting all odds, including threat to their own life.
That our armed forces are committed to save the humanity can be seen from what Air Commoder Balachandran said the other day. "These instances (read attacks on the army and other forces) can't stop us from doing our job," the Air Commoder said while speaking to CNN-IBN. Hats off to him and others like Army Chief General Suhag and Lt General DS Hooda, who have also declared that the jawans involved in the rescue operations would go back to the barracks only after they accomplish the job.
But, where are the separatists now? Where are Syed Ali Shah Geelanis? Where are Mirwaiz Umar Farooqs? Where are Yasin Maliks? Where are Shabir Shahs? Where has they gone? They must be hiding or they must be holidaying and enjoying in the cubby-holes of their flood proof homes. Or, they must have fled away from Srinagar to some safer places. The separatists in the Kashmir Valley thrive on the blood and sweat of the common Kashmiris. They also thrive on the staple food of abusing the central government and our disciplined, committed and compassionate armed forces.
While the entire nation stands with the suffering people of the state in this hour of grave and serious crisis and central government, armed forces and charitable organisations are doing their best to help marooned civilians and stranded tourists in the flood-ravaged State, especially the Valley, separatists choose to miss in action. No one has seen any of the separatists on the scene helping the flood victims during all these days of crisis. So much so, not a single Kashmiri separatist has till today issued any statement expressing solidarity with the suffering people. They will show their cruel faces only after everything is settled in the Valley.
It's time the common people of Jammu & Kashmir realize who is their real savior. Will they? They must.
