One killed, 3 Army men among 21 injured in Kathua road accident | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 13: Nearly two dozen of passengers get serious injuries and one lost his life at Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Dayala Chak, when a Punjab Roadways bus rolls down from the road following an accident with Army gypsy. As soon as the accident took place, the locals immediately started rescue operation and managed to reach the injured persons to the nearby Hiranagar Sub-District Hospital and to District Hospital Kathua with the help of Police. According to the injured passengers, bus number PB03-AA-8015, was coming from Jammu and heading towards Amritsar. Passengers alleging driver of the bus to be under the influence of drugs, said that he had started running bus at high speed in opposite lane of highway from Ghagwal. After crossing Dayala Chak, he did not bother to change the lane despite repeated pleas of the passengers. As a result, the bus collided with Army Gypsy coming from opposite direction and rolled down the road. The injured passengers further said that including two-army men nearly 20-passengers suffered injuries. Out of them seven were seriously injured who got refer to Jammu Medical college from Hiranagar Hospital. Whereas the minor injured are getting treatment at Hiranagar and some referred to District Hospital. The passengers disclosed that the person who died in the accident i.e. Jaswant Singh too was from Army and he was going home to spend his leave. SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal Sharma told media persons that police has registered a case in the matter and the proceedings are going on. |
