Over 300 Kashmir flood survivors reach Kishtwar via Sinthan road 9/13/2014 10:38:13 PM Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Sept 13: With the opening of Kishtwar - Sinthan - Anantnag highway hundreds of Kashmir floods survivors have been rescued and brought here to take up onward journey. These people were stranded in Kashmir following the massive floods and were rescued with the coordinated efforts of the district administration under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Jared Khan. Around three hundred flood survivors, mostly the labourers belonging to West Bengal, Jharkhand, UP, MP, Bihar, Utrrakhand, Odissa, including 31 from Nepal, were stranded in Srinagar since massive floods hit the city on the intervening night of September 5 and 6. They were brought to Kishtwar by a team of officers deputed especially for the purpose to the Valley. The survivors were accommodated at GHSS Kishtwar and provided all the basic amenities like food, water shelter etc. ADC Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik, Tehsildar Phulail Singh, DySP Nazir Ganai and Major Avdesh personally attended to the flood victims and ensured food and accommodation to all. On the directions of DDC Kishtwar, ARTO Kishtwar immediately arranged the buses for the further transportation of these labourers to Udhampur Railway Station free of cost. The state wise list of the survivors, dully prepared and signed for their convenience, was also sent to Udhampur railway station. The DDC Kishtwar has constituted a committee (Task Force) headed by ADDC to ensure smooth rescue and safe travel of stranded persons/passengers on Kishtwar- Sinthan road.Medical teams have been deputed at Potato Farm Sinthan, SHC Chingam, Sinthan top and at PHC Chatroo, which are working round the clock for meeting any emergency as the traffic and supplies for the Valley have been diverted via Sinthan due t6o closure of the Jammu-Srinagar, national highway. The DDC Kishtwar and ASP Kishtwar are closely monitoring the measures to ensure smooth transportation of essential Commodities to Kashmir via Sinthan top road. Pertinently, the DDC Kishtwar has already sent a team headed by PO DRDA Akhter Hussain Qazi, DySP DAR, Medical team, and members of Red Cross to Kashmir, who so far have succeeded in sending 352 locals thorough this road.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
