Marheen habitants' chain hunger strike continues on fifth day

Kathua, Sept 15: To meet the demand of opening headquarters of newly constituted Tehsil Marheen at Marheen itself, the chain hunger strike initiated by the local habitants remains continue on fifth day of the struggle.
In joist of chain hunger strike on fifth day Sardari Lal, Ujjagarmal, Manga Ram, Amarnath and Ganesh Dass gave their contribution whereas, dozens of people from Marheen and adjoin villages also marked their presence in support of hunger strike. National Conference Block President Dharam Pal Kundal castigating district administration said that the haul concerning the establishment of Tehsil headquarter of newly constituted Tehsil Marheen, is due to the lackadaisical attitude of administration.
"Some people of other villages especially the villagers of Kandi area who are having approach in administration are creating hurdles in the creation of headquarters at Marheen", Kundal miffed.
He alleged that the administration is deliberately ignoring Marheen for opening of Tehsil office and is tilting it towards the Sanji Morh. Dharam Pal Kundal asserting the opponents said that to get Tehsil status the people of Marheen had underwent a rigorous struggle and now after getting the status of Tehsil and CD block, the people of other villages are trying to enjoy the fruit of their struggle.
"We on behalf of people of Marheen demand administration to constitute tehsil headquarters here only so that the people of all the surrounding villages could avail the benefit", Kundal said.
Giving the other reasons in support of their demand, he said that Marheen and other adjoining villages are part of border belt and had lacked behind in development. The said areas have already been facing the so many discriminations from political as well as administrative point of view. In these areas, if government is serious to bring the development then it is mandatory for the government to address their genuine demand.
On the other hand, the other protesters said that they would intensify the struggle if administration tried to snatch their right.
Makhni Singh Bandral, Chabeel Singh, Shiv Dev Singh, Pritam Dass, Thuru Ram, Raj Singh, Prakash Gupta, Praveen Gupta and many other were present during the protest.
