Ex-MLC’s bail rejected in Chopra murder case
9/20/2014 11:50:15 PM
Jammu, Sept 20 : Principal Sessions Judge, Jammu, Rakesh Sagar Jain today rejected bail application of ex-MLC Trilochan Singh Wazir alias Tallo who is facing trial in conspiracy for murdering business tycoon R B chopra and his family.  According to the case, on September 18, 2006, police received information from reliable source that Rajinder Bhushan Chopra, his wife Madhu Chopra, daughter Saloni Chopra, servant Sonu and driver Jagan had been killed at their residence in Sector 3 Trikuta Nagar. On the basis of this report, police registered the case under FIR No. 107/2006 U/Ss 302 RPC and commenced the investigation. After six years of investigation, police recorded the statement of one Surinder Singh and acting on his statement, police arrested Tallo and others for allegedly conspiring to kill Chopra and his family. After hearing both the sides, Court observed that witnesses examined have not supported prosecution case need not to be gone into at this stage because consideration and appreciation of evidence available on record would certainly prejudice case of prosecution and it would be premature for the court to frame any opinion. Court is of considered view severity and degree of punishment would be at higher side if the allegation levelled against petitioner/accused is proved to be true. The allegations against the accused in the present case are that he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the other accused and in pursuance of the criminal conspiracy committed murder of five persons. The allegations leveled against the accused are of very serious nature and against the society.  The judge observed that looking at the allegations leveled against the accused and the larger interest of the State and the public as well as the settled law, the court is of the opinion that no good ground is made out for granting bail to the petitioner and rejected the same.  (JNF)
