After vitiating atmosphere, Hurriyat leaders want Delhi to engage with Pak

JAMMU, Oct 10: The manner in which the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has been responding to the Pakistani misadventures and taking on the Pakistani terrorists, including Army, Rangers and Lashkar operatives both across the International Border and Line of Control has further rattled the already discredited Hurriyat leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik. Convinced that they are being considered irrelevant in Kashmir by the powers-that-be in New Delhi and that they have lost whatever appeal they had after the September floods, they are trying their level best to come to the limelight by singing the Pakistani tune overlooking the fact that the Manmohan Singh's weak regime has been booted out of power and a new Government under Narendra Modi has been voted to power, which without mincing words tells Pakistan that it has no alternative but to behave failing which it would have pay a very heavy price. Take, for example, what PM Modi, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath singh have said. The PM said the enemy (read Pakistan) realized that times have changed and their old habits will not be tolerated". Arun Jaitley has dismissed Pakistan as "aggressor" and said, "India would make the 'costs' of Pakistani adventurism and aggression 'unaffordable' for that country". As for Rajnath Singh, he has said, "Pakistan must not forget that the situation in the country has changed" and that "we will uphold the unity and integrity of India at any cost".
What has rattled the self-styled Hurriyat leaders and the mentor Pakistan all the more is the consistency in the views being aired by Prime Minister Modi, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Army commanders and the favorable media they are enjoying. They want the Government of India to forget everything and engage with Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue and help restore peace in the state as well as South Asia. Though they do not see eye to eye with each other and operate from different platforms, they the other day talked in one voice and urged New Delhi to resume talks with Pakistan. These shameless mercenaries, self-seekers, rabble-rousers, real enemies of the Kashmiri Muslims and Pakistani agents completely overlooked the fact that they themselves and Islamabad were squarely responsible for the cancellation of talks between the Indian Foreign Secretary and her Pakistani counterpart - talks scheduled to be held at Islamabad on August 25.
It bears recalling that Shabir Shah, Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik and Pakistan high Commissioner Abdul Basit had all ignored the view of the Government of India that meetings between Kashmiri separatists and Pakistani High Commissioner in Delhi would not be tolerated, as the issue of Jammu and Kashmir was bilateral in nature and the Kashmiri separatists no one to poke their nose in India-Pakistan relations. It all happened on August 18, the day Shabir Shah met with Abdul Basit at the Pakistan High Commission.
How could they urge New Delhi to forget the past and move forward by engaging with the aggressor Pakistan whose single-point agenda is to bleed-India with a thousand-cut on a daily basis, grab the Indian Jammu and Kashmir and dismember India? They have no right whatsoever to speak for and on behalf of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. They represent none; they represent only a microscopic minority view.
It is inspiring that the new regime in New Delhi has been responding in a befitting manner and showing Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists their rightful place.
