‘Flood relaxations' should apply to all traders otherwise it will fail: CTF | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 10: Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF), has criticized the SRO's issued by the Govt with a view to give exemptions / concessions to the traders in the aftermath of unprecedented floods and rains in the State demanding that 'exemption/relaxations' should apply to all traders irrespective of whether they have lost their records or not. Addressing a press conference here today, Yash Paul Gupta, President CTF today said that Governments Notification dated 4th Oct 2014 does not involve any financial implication and is about the extension of the date of filing of returns should be applicable to all and not only to the traders whose records have been lost." "The above said order directs that the last date for filing of returns for the second quarter 2014-15 and revised returns for the first quarter 2014-15 by the dealers whose record has been lost due to unprecedented floods of September, 2014 shall now be 31stJanuary, 2015, he added. CTF president said, "Govt must understand that all the traders and dealers are linked in a chain in the business activity. If some traders suffer directly others suffer indirectly Payments are withheld, reconciling of accounts becomes difficult and various other complications arise." "Thus authorities at helms of affairs needs to have an open approach to give concessions / extensions ' exemptions to all the only difference will be a little delay in the depositing of tax and filing of returns, he added. Therefore, CTF demands that this order should apply to all traders irrespective of whether they have lost their records or not. Similarly the provisions of the other SRO's should also be applicable to all the traders because any provision made for a section of the people creates unnecessary doubts in the minds of the people and opens the gates of discrimination / corruption / mal practices and underhand dealings. CTF demands that any concession given under S.R.O's should be applicable to all the traders throughout the State. "This will ensure transparency and will remove all the doubts of the traders CTF once again makes it clear that any calamity of this nature affects all the traders directly or indirectly and the Govt, should not put any mandatory conditions for availing the benefits of such concessions / exemptions / benefit announced by the Govt, by way of relief, CTF members said. In the end CTF office bearers urged upon the Govt to avoid any controversy in this matter and should not give cause of complaint to anyone. |
