DC reviews amenities made available under 'Mission Hiffazat' to border migrants | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 10 Deputy Commissioner Kathua convened a meeting of all Camp Commanders and camps officers in Hiranagar tehsil where more than 9700 migrants evacuated from border areas have been evacuated by district administration in 35 camps located in different areas under 'Mission Hifazat' launched earlier this week in wake of heavy shelling across international border. Official spokesperson said SSP Kathua, Mohan Lal, ADDC N S Bali, SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal, SDPO Diwakar Singh, CMO, CEO, ExEns of PHE, PDD, Mechanical, PWD, PMGSY, RTIC, Camp Officers and Camp commanders of all 35 camps and representatives of various villages attended the meeting. During the meeting the DC Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal reviewed camp wise performance and requirements projected by the camp commanders. Apart from providing basic amenities and healthcare to people the administration has provided seven teams of veterinary doctors and para-vets also organised 14 camps for livestock along the border. "Special classes for students have been organised in the relief camps and also arrangements made for sports and entertainment of children to avoid fear psychosis of ongoing border shelling, official added. Official said that teams of district administration also inspected every camp and assessed the requirement of additional services. "Villagers from twelve villages within radius of 0-3 Kilometres from border were evacuated late last evening and senior officers of district administration were deployed as camp officers along with relief material, ration and blankets, he added. More than a dozen buses were deployed for immediate evacuation and rescue of people. SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal coordinated the arrangements. In the end of meeting DC Kathua directed all the camp commanders and camp officers to remain available at camps round the clock along with assisting staff immediately provide relief and assistance to the additional families coming to these camps. More than 20 camps have also been notified where additional families can be accommodated. |
