Jammu, Jan 22: J&K Sikh Budhijeevi Sanstha, Jammu has expressed deep concern over the issue of political alienation being meted out to the Sikh Community by all major political parties in J&K State. In a meeting held here today the Sikh community has expressed remorse for not being duly considered in the recently held major political process of general as well as state assembly elections. Though the Sikhs, being 8-10 % of state population, have not been given any chance to represent the community. This has been happening for the last many decades and as is also apparent from the recently held election process, no political party , especially major political parties viz. BJP, PDP, NC, Cong, has shown any consideration for the Sikh community, they alleged. The Sanstha decided to appeal to all major political stake holders in the state and centre Govt. to give due consideration to the community and consider their inclusion in the process of election to the Rajya Sabha as well as in the state legislature. It is sad that though 95% of the Sikh community living in the state are refugees /DPs from POJK of 1947, their sacrifices and sufferings have been totally ignored and forgotten by the political parties and they are being discriminated since 1947. The PSC on Home Affairs, has recognized this fact and recommended to defreeze at least eight state Assembly, seats in favour of POJK refugees. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Roshan Singh, Er. Jagjeet Singh, S.Daljeet Singh, Surinder Singh Ex principal, Er Jaswant Singh, Dr Hardev Singh, Amarjit Singh, Teja Singh, Satwant Singh and others. |
