JAMMU, Jan 22: Resentment brewing among some pro-BJP advocates after Union Ministry of Law and Justice ordered engagement of Advocates as Senior Panel Counsel and Central Government Counsel for J&K High Court at Jammu and Srinagar Bench and Senior Panel Counsel and Additional Government Standing Counsel at CAT Circuit Bench, Jammu on January 15.
A number of advocates, who are staunch RSS supporters and some of them, who are actively associated with RSS and other affiliated organizations, have been ignored while as some advocates, who have association with Congress, are engaged by the Union Law Ministry.
Credible sources in the BJP said that list of advocates was approved by the party high command and a number of pro-BJP advocates who have rights to be included in the panel were ignored. "Some advocates who have nothing to do with BJP, RSS or other organizations were engaged because they have personal relations with BJP leaders", sources said and added that there was strong resentment among pro-BJP and RSS advocates after formation of the panel.
As reported earlier, according to the order issued by Department of Legal Affairs, Judicial Section, in supersession of all earlier orders President has given nod to the engagement of new Senior Panel Counsel and Central Government Counsel for J&K High Court and Senior Panel Counsel and Additional Government Standing Counsel at CAT, Circuit Bench, Jammu for a period of three years or until further orders.
For High Court Jammu, the Senior Panel Counsel are Ajay Singh Manhas, LK Moza, Danish Butt and Rameshwar Singh Jamwal while as Central Government Counsel for High Court Jammu are Advocates Saquib Mahmood, Bhanu Jasrotia, Abhinandan Kotwal, Nazir Ahmed Chowdhary, Vishal Bharti, Suraj Singh, Primoksh Seth, Ravinder Kumar Gupta, SS Nanda, YP Koushal, Hunur Gupta, Parshotam Chander Sharma, Ranjit Singh Jamwal, Raghu Mehta, Vikas Sharma, Rajesh Thapa, KK Razdan, Sunil Malhotra, Vishal Sharma, Adarsh Kumar, Sumeet Bhatia, Sandeep Gupta, Prem Nath Sadhotra, Rakesh Gupta, Vandana Sharma, Vimal Kumar Balgotra, Sudesh Kumar and Pranav Kohli.
The Senior Panel Counsel for High Court Srinagar is Advocate Masooda Jan while as Central Government Counsel for High Court Srinagar are Satinder Singh, Muzaffar Hamid Bhat, Hakim Aman Ali, Avatar Singh Sodhi and Nazir Ahmad Bhat.
Harshwardhan Gupta is Senior Panel Counsel for CAT Circuit Bench Jammu and Sudesh Magotra is Additional Government Standing Counsel for CAT Circuit Bench Jammu. |
