Model Academy pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi

Jammu, Jan 30: Model Academy School of MIER held a special assembly to mark the death anniversary of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi which is observed as Martyr's Day on Friday.
On the occasion, Dr Arun Kumar Gupta, Chairman, MIER was the chief guest, Dr Renu Gupta Director MIER was the guest of Honour. Social activist and Gandhian, President, Gandhi Samarak Nidhi Karuna Bajaj said that Gandhi had given message for all sections of the society belonging to different castes, creed and colour, socio-economic level and women by sacrificing his life for the country. She further said that Gandhi is relevant in modern times as Gandhi set an example by using the principle of non-violence as a powerful tool of resurgence.
"The ideals of Gandhi were truth, non-violence, universal brotherhood and she stressed upon the students to inculcate these values to become responsible citizens of the country," she added.
While, Dr Arun K Gupta paid homage to all those who had laid down their lives for the nation and observed that sacrifices of the Martyrs had ensured that the citizens of today are enjoying freedom and democracy while their motherland was being defended by brave personnel of Armed Forces. He, in his address urged the students to work for the progress of their country and be prepared for making sacrifices to ensure nations' progress and security.
He further exhorted the students to work hard and dedicate themselves not only to achieve their personal goals in life but also to work for the betterment of the country. Later, the students of choir group of the school sang patriotic songs which enthralled the guests and the audience. The students also presented Gandhi's famous 'Ram Dhun' in honour of the great patriot. Karan Rai, a student of class IX spoke about the martyrs who laid down the lives for the freedom movement.
The function was also attended by Rupa Gupta, Management Representative and Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal, Model Academy. Anita Kaul, incharge of Newton House presented the welcome address. The programme was compered by Abhishek, Vice Head Boy and Vote of thanks was presented by Apurva Gupta, Vice Head Girl of the school. The whole programme was co- ordinated by ManjuVali & Amarjot CCA incharges.
