CB produces challan against CAPD official

Kishtwar, Jan 30: Crime Branch, Jammu has produced challan in infamous Marwah ration scam against Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Officer involved in case FIR No. 15/2004 under section 420, 465, 468, 471, 409 RPC P/S Marwah.
As per the details available with Early Times, Crime Branch Jammu produce challan against accused Ghulam Rasool Bhat alias Gull Bhat S/o Abdul Subhan Bhat R/o Badhasgham Tehsil Dooru, District Anantnag the then Storekeeper Inshan District Kishtwar before the Court of CJM Kishtwar.
As per the case history, on the complaint of one Ghulam Nabi Akhoon Son of Ghulam Hussan Akhoon R/o Nai Basti Anantnag the then Supervisor CA&PD Inshan Marwah District Kishtwar instant case was registered at Police Station Marwah wherein the complainant had alleged that accused person has shown in the monthly grain bags statement that wheat 2300 qtls., rice 950 qtls., and sugar 53 qtls. are available at the Sale Centre Inshan but the same is not available in the Sale Centre. The Storekeeper has also not remitted the cash in the concerned Government Treasury despite repeated directions.
Later, on physical verification of the record of the said store was conducted by the Crime Branch and it was found that food grains were embezzled by the Storekeeper. During the course of investigation the records was also seized by the Crime Branch and on the basis of evidences, oral as well as documentary, the accused person has been found to have committed the offences u/s 420, 465, 468, 471, 409 RPC and has been challaned before the Hon’ble Court of law for judicial determination.
It is pertinent to mention that in past several ration scandal involving crores of rupees has been surfaced from Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan areas of District Kishtwar, but no one was punished till date. As a part of nexus, in addition to embezzlement of ration, the CA&PD officials withdrew carriage charges of the ration which was never sent in these areas.
As per sources, the carriage charges ranging from Rs. 1600 to Rs. 2800 per Quintal were claimed in these areas having no proper road connectivity. Kishtwar police last year also registered a case against few CA&PD officials for embezzlement of government ration and also constituted the Special Investigation Team to probe the large scale bungling in the department, but even after the lapse of nearly one year; Kishtwar police is yet to make the SIT report or progress of the SIT investigation public.
