Jammu, Mar 15: Putting lid over the controversy that emerged over the state flag in Jammu and Kashmir, senior BJP leader and deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh Sunday said 'there is no mention of state flag's removal in CMP and the government will maintain status quo over state constitution.'
"Whatever is there is the state of Jammu and Kashmir's constitution will be maintained- this is what the CMP between BJP and PDP has elaborated. There is no mention of the state flag in Common Minimum Program," Singh said.
Commenting over the recent uproar that made headlines over the state flag issue, he said, "The government was unnecessarily dragged into the messes. The government took corrective measures later and withdrew the order as same was not approved by the competent authority of the state." "The government will be run by the CMP and not by the controversial statements and remarks," the deputy chief minister said and added that the JK government would take measures in strengthening the graft bodies including State Accountability Commission (SAC), State Vigilance Commission (SVC) and others in the near future.
Asked whether action against the former ministers and bureaucrats against whom the cases were registered earlier will be taken, Singh in guarded words said: "Law will take its own course and the government will do whatever is required in the best interests of the state."
He added that the state dispensation is mulling to ban the engagement of casual labours and daily wagers and government jobs will be provided to youth of the state through proper procedure. "The case of daily wagers and casual labours who have been earlier engaged in various departments of the state government, is being looked into so that legal and others issues are sorted out before any step for regularising them is taken," the deputy CM said. Commenting over the overall reshuffle in the civil and police administration, he termed the step healthy for the effective governance of the state. "We want effective, transparent and corruption free government in Jammu and Kashmir. For that purpose we were able to find sincere officers who could deliver for the well being of the people."
Asked whether there were any complaints against those who have been removed from their key posts, Singh said, "I am only praising the sincere officers and not condemning others. We are making the list of the tainted officials and same will be made public in near future. We are striving to give people an effective government so that they could have a sigh of relief from the corrupt practices that had taken toll in Jammu and Kashmir earlier."
He also said that government is looking into resolving issues pertaining to state employees including the approval of DA which is pending since January last year. "The government is doing all necessary it could do for its employees. We are looking into the issues that are yet to be resolved. We will take necessary measures in near future," he added.

The Deputy CM maintained further that within days, the flood victims will start getting the relief from the government and that the state is pursuing the issue of relief package with the Center.
