Previous Govt's claims on health infrastructure exposed 4 yrs on, RS Pura hospital gets 50% funds only 3/28/2015 11:38:43 PM Bijay Charak Jammu, Mar 28: The previous government's claims that about uplifting health infrastructure across the state stay exposed as Sub District Hospital RS Pura received only 50 percent funds has been released in four years. Sources informed Early Times that in the year 2011 the construction work of three storey hospital complex of Sub district Hospital was started at an estimate cost of Rs. 16 crore but surprising till date state government only released 8 crore. Sources further said that the in the year 2012 former Health Minister also visited the health institution and directed concerned executing agencies for ensuring time bound completion of on- going health infrastructure projects and also gave deadline for completion of Emergency block of the 3 story hospital complex by December 2013 but one year lapse of deadline the government has released only 50 percent. "During the visit minister had claimed any negligence in this regard must be viewed seriously for stern action but same has failed to release funds due to which the construction work of three story hospital complex goes on at snails face", sources said, adding the un -necessary delays in the completion of projects not only causes cost escalation but creates problems for regulating better patient care facilities in the hospital. Ram Singh a social activist of RS Pura said that the executing agency took up the construction work of the hospital at a cost of Rs 16.96 crore during the year 2011 but so far Rs 3.25 crore the cost has been expended on its execution.He further said that at present only a portion of the building was constructed.When contacted Deputy General Manager of Housing Board Tarseem Kumar said that in Phase-I state government has released around Rs. 5 crore and Rs. 2.50 crore was released in previous month.
