PDP reacts to Omar's statement

Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Apr 19: A day after former Chief Minister and working president of National Conference Omar Abdullah questioned the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's assertions on upholding the human rights, ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sunday reminded Omar that "he failed to take action against the culprits responsible for the killing of 120 innocent youth in 2010."
"The man who is questioning the Chief Minister's assertions on upholding human rights is in no position to issue such statement. He should remember that being a chief minister of the state he had failed to take action against those who were responsible for cold blooded murder of 120 innocent youth in 2010," senior PDP leader and Education Minister Naeem Ahktar told
He said that the killing of innocents cannot be justified by any means and the PDP government will not tolerate such incidents. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered immensely because of more than two decades long dark era of death and destruction and they do not want a similar ominous situation to be enforced on them again," he said.
Akhtar asked the security forces to follow the standard operating procedure in letter and spirit.
Omar had on Saturday said, "We have seen Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed saying he would be responsible for any rights violations and he would not permit a violation of set standard procedures for the security and paramilitary forces. Both in the case of the Tral youth's killing and now in Narbal, Mufti's words have proven to be hollow as the SOPs were brazenly violated while the Chief Minister continues to maintain a conspicuously apologetic stand."
