Government order suspension of two Motor Vehicle Inspectors

Jammu, May 6: Taking strong note of mess in transport department, Secretary to Government transport department Baseer Ahmed Khan today order suspension of two motor vehicle Inspector for deliration of duties beside for the mess at Rail head complex Jammu and appointed Special Secretary to Government Transport Department to probe the matter and fix the responsibility on the guilty persons within seven days.
As per the details available with "Early Times" , the issue comes to lime light during the surprise visit of Minister for Transport Abdul Gani Kohli to the parking of Railway Head complex Jammu couple of days ago and the minister during his surprise visit was astonished to see that the busses having permit of Banihal route having sitting arrangement (3X2) are being unauthorized converted in 2X2 sitting arrangements in grave violation of rules and regulation. The minister also observed on spot that there was no proper checking of the vehicles and most of the busses were seen standing in the premises. Moreover the busses hired by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation for Jammu to Karta route are also being used in a manner which is not permissible under rule.
Following the directions of the transport Minister, Government vide order No. 32-TR of 2015 Dated 6-05-2015 issued by Romesh Kumar Giri, under Secretary to Government Transport Department order immediate suspension of two Motor Vehicle Inspectors namely Vinod Kumar Chalotra and Param Veer Singh who are not only found responsible for the mess at Railway Head parking, but was also found absent from the duty unauthorized during the surprise visit of the minister.
"Whereas the Minister for Transport has paid surprise visit to the Railway Head Complex Jammu and was astonished to see discrepancies of serious nature in respect of checking and supervision on the part of officers/officials of Motor Vehicle Department with regard to operation of route permits in respect of busses on different routes in grave violation of rules/norms in vogue" read the government order, added that "It was observed on the spot that there is no proper checking of the vehicles and the officers namely Vinod Kumar Chalotra and Param Veer Singh, Motor Vehicle Inspectors were found absent from duties on spot".
Meanwhile in separate order (Order No. 31-TR of 2015) government order appointment of Itrat Hussain Rafiqui as an inquiry officer. He has been asked to submit its report within 7 days fixing the responsibility. RTO Jammu Ashwani Khajuria who accompanied the Minister during his visit along with ARTO Jammu Kuldeep Singh has also been asked to explain their positions in this regard.
