Vijaypur, May 27 : Holding protest demonstration in response to Jammu Bandh called in support of AIIMS Jammu, Congress party workers led by Former Minister and Sr Congress leader Manjit Singh today blocked Jammu Pathankot highway in Vijaypur separate AIIMS for Jammu. Led by the former Minister Manjit Singh, the large number of Congress and locals took to roads in Vijaypur and amid shouting slogans, the protesters blocked the highway demanding separate AIIMS for Jammu and appealed to complete artificial lake project on Tawi River. Speaking on the occasion, Manjit Singh said that BJP has befooled the people with their false promises of ending discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh or be it the issue of settlement of PoK refugees, West Pakistani Refugees or Kashmiri Pandits. Referring to AIIMS, Manjit Singh, speaking before the protesters, further said the AIIMS which was sanctioned to the Jammu was handed over to Kashmir but BJP remained mute spectator to the discrimination. "Jammu has been ignored by the Government. We are not against sanctioning AIIMS to Kashmir but why cannot Government give another for Jammu to end the discrimination with the region," he demanded. He accused BJP for playing divisive politics to create differences among the people of two regions on various issues instead of bringing the people closer to each other.
"The saffron party always want to play politics on divide and rule which the people should understand and expose the BJP," he said. Meanwhile, Manjit Singh expressed surprise over the silence of National Conference (NC) in regard to discrimination with Jammu.
