| Separatists take undue advantage of Mufti's liberal policy | | | Belatedly Chief Minister,Mufti Mohd. Sayeed, seems to have realized that separatists and militants took undue advantage of his Government's liberal policy under which he had supported the policy of reconciliation even with those sitting on the other side of the fence.If reports emanating from the civil secretariat are to be believed Mufti Mohd.Sayeed has been awakened by the series of killings of civilians in Sopore.Not only this even the separatists have stepped up their anti-Government and anti-India campaign during series of rallies they have been organizing where Pakistani flags and that of the ISIS flags are being waved.
It has taken over 100 days for the Chief Minister to understand the element of mischief behind these anti-India activities.It took him these days to understand that separatists and militants were trying to take undue advantage of his policy of reconciliation which may have facilitated them in carrying out incidents of killing of civilians and armed attacks on security forces,especially the police in various areas in the valley.
It seems that out of this realisation Mufti Sayeed has asked the security forces to initiate all possible measures for preventing militants from carrying out killing of civilians.He has asked the security forces to tackle militants firmly so that hey were not able to carry out Sopore type incidents to other places in the state.These inst ructions were given during the meeting of the Unified Headquarters in Srinagar.In fact the meeting was convened to discuss the situation created by militants in Sopore and debate on measures that were needed to ensure bumper tourist season and completion of annual Amarnath yatra .
The Chief Minister seems to have felt upset over the activities of separatists too who have been trying to derail peace by inciting people to stage anti-India demonstrations and to indulge in violence.That should have been the reason for the Chief Minister to support the decision of the police that invariably place separatists under house arrest lest they should create problems for the law enforcing agencies. And there is a difference in the policy that the PDP-BJP coalition Government had adopted in the beginning.
It was then that Masarat Alam could organize rallies followed by rallies organized by Shabir Ahmed Shah, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Molvi Umar Farooq.
Since March last these separatists have been placed under house arrest whenever they gave a call for Sopore or Anantnag or Tral Chalo.
Reports have indicated that the Chief Minister has been told that militants may create added problems once they provide assistance to the separatists trying to destabilize security and political situation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. That should have been the reason for Mufti Mohd. Sayeed to have directed the security forces to deal firmly with militants so that they were not able to proliferate Sopore type incidents.
Mufti Sayeed is fully aware of the plan of separatists and militants who wish to derail peace so that the Government was not able to initiate measures and implement policies for ensuring economic growth.
If the BJP and the PDP, two parties having different political ideologies, have joined hands to run a coalition Government they have done so to give to people a clean, transparent and corruption free Government which could allow them to taste the fruits of development, activities of militants and separatists could prove a hurdle in this plan. Hence the Government's plan to deal firmly with militants and separatists. |
