GHS Drugrund authorities forces students to lift wood for preparation of Mid Day Meal

Doda, June 26: In blatant violation of norms, students are being forced to lift fire wood for the preparation of Mid Day Meal (MDM) and putting them in the sphere of laborers, in Government High School Dugrund Bathrie, education zone Batyas,of district Doda .
"The students of government high school Drugrund was working for the school as the authorities instead of hiring the labourers, they are forcing pupils to lift on their shoulders the load of heavy blogs of wood for preparation of Mid Day Meal ," sources said.
While talking to this media person the students said they have been asked by school management to collect the blocks of fire wood themselves, if we wanted to get mid day meal for lunch.
"We have been ordered to carry fire wood for preparation of meal. We do not want to work but our teachers are forcing us to do jobs," said a student wishing anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention here that there are Several policy initiatives and programmes have been undertaken in this country over the last decade with the basic objective of dealing with the problem of the rapidly increasing number of child workers.
The formulation of a new National Child Labour Policy, the enactment of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986, the setting up of a Task Force on child labour. When this media person contacted CEO Doda Ajeet Singh he refused to comment on the matter and it is believed that education department want to hush up this isue of human right violation because in that school there are influential teachers.
