JAMMU, June 26: Catchphrase 'One step forward, two steps back' seems most suitable to express ill preparedness' of university of Jammu as the PG Course in Political Science was started by Directorate of Distance Education an year back but those at the helm of affairs have forgotten to prepare study material of second semester. Sources informed Early Times that failure of administration to formulate study material for second semester of PG Course in Political Science has put future of over one thousand students at stake. "More than one thousand students enrolled themselves for PG course in Political Science, offered by DDE, JU in session 2014-15", sources said, adding that lackadaisical approach of concerned coordinator has been forcing enrolled students either leave the course mid way or wait. "Coordinator, Political Science, DDE Prof Nagendra Rao, is associated with at DDE since 2007. After lapse of more than one year, when course was begun, study material for two papers of second semester was prepared while it is difficult to say when the study material for the rest of two papers will be formulated", they said, adding that despite repeated visits of students to get study material for second semester, the coordinator is not issuing it to them. A student said when he visited the coordinator a few days back to know about the status of study material, the latter said, "We have uploaded, study material of two papers of second semester. You can download it from the University's website. He said that students from various parts of Jammu division and some from the valley had enrolled themselves for the course but owing to non-seriousness of the DDE, they were forced to leave their courses half way. Ridiculing, VC's claims to improve education system in the campus, they said that it seems Vice Chancellor R D Sharma had disowned DDE. "Due to non-seriousness of VC, things in the university have gone out of control", they added. Requesting Governor NN Vohra, who is also Chancellor University of Jammu, they said that he should come forward to protect the future of thousands of students, who were in dilemma due to the non-seriousness of the authorities concerned. |
