Bovine smuggling bids foiled at Mughal Road, two held | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, June 26: In its drive against bovine smuggling in the district, Rajouri police today arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued twenty animals from their possession. Police sources said, "The accused bovine smugglers have been identified namely as Mohd Bashir s/o Naik Mohd r/o Sailsui and driver of the vehicle Safait Hussain s/o Mohd Latief r/o Rajdhani, Thanamandi. "On specific information, Narinder Singh Chib SHO under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Iftqar Talib laid nakas at Begunar and Churang Bridge near Thanamandi." "During checking at Nake Begunar police team seized eleven animals which were being taken from Rajouri to Srinagar via Thanamandi on feet by the bovine smugglers without any due permission or requisite documentation for animal shipment, police sources said, adding, "manhunt is on to nab the accused who abandoned the animals on seeing police naka." Similarly, Police team intercepted a Truck-709 bearing registration No JK14H-2326 at Churang Bridge and recovered nine animals loaded in it under inhumane conditions. Police arrested two bovine smugglers Mohd Bashir and driver of the vehicle Safait Hussain on the spot for ferrying animals to Srinagar without any permission via Mughal Road, sources said.
