CB observes Int'l Day against Drug Abuse, Illicit trafficking

Jammu, June 26 : Continuing its endeavor to make people aware of drug abuse and related crimes, the Jammu & Kashmir Police Crime Branch, Jammu observed International Day against drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26) by organized various activities here today. During the first session of activities to mark the day, , SSP Crime Branch, Jammu Mubassir Latifi in presence of all the officers/officials of the Crime Branch flagged off an Anti Drug Campaign Vehicle from the Zonal Headquarters, Crime Branch, Jammu to start mobile campaigning in the entire Jammu city throughout the day. The vehicle was flagged off with an objective to make the general masses aware through announcements regarding the evils of the drugs on their children and the society and distributed pamphlets containing anti drug themes. Later, the SSP Crime Lattifi and others ranks participated in an Anti Drug Rally organized jointly by Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu in collaboration with JKSPYM (Mashwara, Drug De-Addiction Centre, Purkho, Domana and other NGOs and schools. The contingent of the Crime Branch, Jammu led by SSP Crime Branch alongwith Rajinder Katoch, Addl. SP, Inderjeet Sharma, CPO, M.A. Almansoor, Senior PO, Jagdev Singh DySP, Rohini Manhas, Sr.PO, and others represented the department in the rally which started from Gurudwara Nanak Nagar, Jammu and culminated at Dussera Ground, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Addressing the rallies and people, SSP Crime Branch, Jammu Mubassir Latifi appealed to the general masses to strictly keep a close watch on their children, who are their future, in order to keep them away from the evils of drugs. He also laid emphasis upon the general public to keep an eye on those unscrupulous elements who are selling the poison in the form of drugs to innocent school going children and advised them to share all such information regarding such elements with the nearest police stations He also disclosed that that during the year 2014, 405 NDPS cases were registered as against 390 cases of the year 2013.
