JAMMU, July 23: National Secular Forum (NSF), Jammu University Unit organized a programmed in Jammu University, and on the Birth anniversary of Azad who laid his life for the country. Amid slogans "Azad Amar Raha '"inqulaab Zindabad" 'Bharat Mata ki jai", and they paid tributes to Azad and garlanded the portrait of the son of soil. Dr Vikas Sharma was the chief guest, Sukhdev Singh President of NSF Presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vikas Sharma appreciated the initiative taken by the NSF member to remember the birth anniversary of Azad. He said that when arrested and produced before the magistrate, he gave his name as 'Azad', his father's name as 'Swatantra' and his residence as 'prison'. The provoked magistrate sentenced him to fifteen lashes of flogging. The title of Azad stuck thereafter. He was considered to be one of the most famous revolutionaries of the Independence movement. |
