BJP leaders promoting nepotism, favouritism
State President's brother appointed Vice Chairman Central Coop Bank…?

ET Report
Jammu, July 23: As the BJP basks in glory of being in alliance government, many of its top level leaders are following the practices which used to be their strong issues while the party was in opposition. Promoting favouritism and nepotism were key slogans party used against Congress and National Conference to the hilt but just in four months of existence in power, the leaders are leaving no opportunity to grind own axes in terms of adjusting their close ones and relatives against various posts.
As the appointment of J&K Central Cooperative Bank Vice Chairman was made in a hush hush manner, there were obvious reasons for it. The new Vice Chairman Nand Kishore Sharma ,as this has now started appearing through social media, happens to be the younger brother of BJP's state president Jugal Kishore Sharma. While it goes without saying that his appointment must have got approval of the powers that be in the alliance, a formal announcement with regard to this post was not made, even as it has now been over six days since he is learnt to have taken over as the Vice Chairman.
As for the background of Nand Kishore Sharma, he is said to be a contractor. Sources said when Jugal contested the Lok Sabha polls he tried hard with Central leadership to secure ticket for his brother Nand Kishore Sharma to contest from Nagrota which he has been winning for two consecutive terms. However, he was not obliged at that time as the leadership responsible for distribution of tickets was given to understand that people of the constituency resented promotion of nepotism and encouragement to only one family. His image in the party got dented to some extent when despite a strong Modi wave, Nagrota was lost to NC man Devinder Rana, sources said.
However, following the proverbial lines-" ….make hay while the sun shines…"in true spirit, top level leaders are adjusting their close ones in government controlled departments and Boards which both the alliance partners are doing in fact a matter of mutual understanding. While Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh adjusted his close relative as Vice chairman of Kisan Advisory Board, state president has secured this one for his own brother, giving further credence to the allegation of promoting nepotism. Deputy Chief Minister is said to have gone one more step further in ensuring adjustment of one of his relative Ritu Jamwal as Principal Government Polytechnic College, a step which was allegedly done while removal of the incumbent officer without any reason. The incumbent Principal of the College was not only honest but had two more years in the tenure.
