Early Times Report
Jammu, July 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Chaudary Lal Singh is again in news for the wrong reasons, this time the Minister has allegedly thrown rule books into bin and has ostensibly created another unit in Cardiology Department to pave way for appointing his favorite 'ineligible' doctor as head of that unit..
Well placed informed Early Times that Health Mininster has reportedly, appointed his favorite doctor head of Cardiology unit, who even does not have requisite qualification for the post and is ineligible for it.
"According to new diktat of the Health Minister, Dr Sushil Sharma Head of Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College and Hospital, who looks after (OPD and Cath Lab) has been asked by the minister to share work with Dr Darvinder Kumar, after creation of another unit, Dr Darvinder would head the newly created unit", sources said, adding the minister has ignored the fact that Dr Darvinder lacks requisite qualification to head the unit. "By doing so he has put hundreds of lives on risks."
"Dr Darvinder Kumar has not performed a single surgery in is career, but him enjoying close proximity with the minister has got him top post. It can spell doom in the long run", sources warned.
They said that doctor was promoted in violation of norms of the department. "He was simply lecturer, it takes three years, to get elevated to post of Assistant Professor, but in special case, in three months, under patronage of Lal Singh he was elevated on Open Promotion Ground (OPG)", they said.
Regretting adamant behavior of Minister, as he is running the health department in his own way, the sources said, the minister is going out of way to favour his loyal doctors. "Unfortunately, Principal GMCH, Dr Ghanysham has become yes man of the minister. Recently, leaving patients on the mercy of God, the minister has also closed Gastroenterology department paradoxically, though, the High Court has stayed government's order, but the department has not been made functional", they added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Darvinder is among those, whose DPC had been cancelled by Public Service Commission, but due to him being loyal to the minister, he is enjoying all privileges'.
