Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 23: The callousness of the State Government towards displaced employees in general and migrant teachers in particular has generated a lot of resentment among the exiled people from Kashmir Valley.
The migrants putting up at various places in the country are up in arms against the double standards of the State government towards the hapless displaced employees leading an exiled life for over last 25 years in Jammu and other parts of country.
The callousness has so increased towards the displaced people from Valley that successive governments in Delhi and in the State never considered it their moral obligation to get these people rehabilitated back in Valley where from they were forced to flee due to follies of both these governments right from 1947.
Instead of taking the responsibility of rehabilitating these hapless people back in Valley with honour and dignity where from they were hounded out by Pak trained militants under a big conspiracy and due to failure of the government to protect their lives and property, the successive governments in Delhi and State for pursuing the appeasement policy tried to suppress these hapless people by sympathizing with the forces inimical to their cause.
What has been the cause of concern for the Kashmiri migrants is that they have lost their entire thing in Valley even they have been totally delinked to their age old culture and traditions after their mass exodus. The Government never bothered to ponder over the issue in view of the contribution of this community to Indian aesthetics, culture and civilization.
Having a glorious history of over five thousand years the Kashmiri Pandits are at present at the cross roads of history and living on the mercy of others as they have no place to call their own. They are far away from their motherland with which the community was linked from times immemorial. The present situation is that they can visit Kashmir but not make any claim on the land. Their properties have been grabbed by the anti social elements over the years, houses either razed to ground or have collapsed due to non maintenance.
Not only this but the community was totally deprived of their share in government employment since the terrorism broke in the Valley though more than two lakh youth were appointed in the State over these years. What is more concerning is the callousness so the government towards the hapless KP employees in general and teachers community in particular.
The Government during the last 25 years made a precedence that in case of promotion the displaced teachers be posted in Ladkah region though the posts are lying vacant in near about one dozen camp schools in Jammu also where these hapless teachers can be posted. But to add to further worries of these employees whose families are already in distress the Government never showed any sympathy with them and rejected their all pleas as if the community has left the Valley on its sweet will.
This impression is being given by a section of politicians form Valley as well as bureaucrats to Government of India also and successive Delhi governments also trusted the cunning politicians of Valley more than the hapless Pandits and turned cold shoulders towards them. The situation is so grave for the hapless displaced employees that over 100 displaced teachers who were promoted as masters two years back along with other hundreds of teachers in the State were not posted till date and their promotion orders kept in abeyance.
When these teachers took up the issue with former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand who was Minister of Education Department also asking him to issue orders of their adjustment in camp schools instead of Ladakh, he without pondering over the issue asked the authorities to keep their promotion orders in abeyance. Soon after the new Government took over, it issued transfer orders to all the hapless teachers by adjusting male teachers in far flung areas of Ladakh and female teachers in Kashmir Valley against their will.
The displaced Pandit organizations have taken up the issue with concerned authorities and termed it a ploy to break the family system further and put the hapless community to more problems. Instead of restoring their mother land to the community the Government was further torturing them by posting the female employees in Valley where no day is left when the ISIS and Pakistani flags are not hoisted. Under these circumstances these hapless teachers could be subjected to any sort of harassment and humiliation by the forces who have either the patronage of Pakistan or radical Islamist forces abroad.
