| Unity in Jammu must for defeating anti-Jammu forces | | BJP committing political suicide | |

Jammu, July 23: Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat, who failed to deliver the promise on AIIMS, have become so unpopular in Jammu region that party after party and political group after political group have started demanding their resignation, saying they and their party betrayed, cheated and humiliated people of Jammu region and they have no moral and political right to remain part of the government. Indeed, they have become objects of contempt and ridicule and there is now hardly any person left in Jammu region who doesn't condemn them in downright language and term them not just undesirable but also describe them as most untrustworthy.
The Congress, which also betrayed people of Jammu region for decades, is after the heads of Nirmal and Bali. It has not only demanded their resignation but also extended full support to the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC), which has been spearheading the AIIMS movement, and declared that it would also start movement for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu. It was not one particular Congress leader who demanded resignations and extended support to the ACC. It was the Congress leadership from Jammu which lambasted the BJP Ministers and the BJP.
The Congress demanded resignation from Nirmal and Bali on Wednesday. The same day, Shiv Sena (Bal Thakeray) also used a very strong language against them and their party and asked Nirmal and Bali to put in their papers, as they cheated the people of Jammu region by not fulfilling the promise. A day before, the Panthers Party also demanded resignations from Nirmal and Bali and urged the people of the region to teach them and the BJP a lesson for its act of betrayal, political dishonesty and political debauchery and for the breach of trust.
But more than that, those who spoke during the second day of chain hunger strike being organized under the banner of the JKHCBA-led ACC expressed the view that "if the people of Jammu region are to lead a dignified life and obtain their legitimate due share, they have to produce a moral effect so that no political leader from Jammu ever dared to ditch them as the BJP ditched them in a most brazen manner". "We will teach the BJP a lesson. We will not allow Nirmal and Bali to function. We will ensure the political demise of the BJP in the region because of which the BJP is in the government. We will not be satisfied even if Nirmal and Bali resign under pressure from below; we want that the BJP be thrown out of Jammu region lock, stock and barrel," speaker after speaker said, and added that "Unity in the region is the need of the hour". "We will achieve our twin objectives - political extinction of the BJP in Jammu region and establishment of AIIMS, besides completion of Artificial Lake Project over Tawi river - if we remained united and fight as one man and one women," one of the speakers also said.
The point is that the badly let down people of Jammu region are turning more and more hostile towards the BJP. It is surprising that the BJP is not recognizing the signs of the time and continues to play with fire. Why is the BJP leadership committing a political suicide? No responsible political parry ever behaves like the BJP has been behaving. |
