jAMMU, July 26: The BJP which was supported to the hilt by the people of Jammu region in the Assembly elections is committing political suicide by betraying its own constituency, said Chairman AIIMS CC and president JKHBCA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma, while addressing the members of civil society at dharna sathal, heretoday. According to press release, so far no political party behaves like the BJP has been behaving. Instead of respecting the sentiments of its constituency in Jammu region, it chose to make a common cause with the PDP, which was known for its anti-Jammu stand. The BJP is conducting itself like the Congress conducted in 1975 by bringing down its own government in the state and handing over the state power to votary of plebiscite/greater autonomy, National Conference, and the result is that the Congress today is no more than a marginal outfit even in Kashmir, said Abhinav Sharma. Abhinav Sharma said that more and more social groups are coming forward on a daily basis and extending their unqualified support to the cause that AIIMS CC has taken up. The BJP is losing its sheen and appeal and becoming unpopular by the day by pursuing a line that it all through opposed, he said, adding that the party has nothing to lose and everything to win by following a courageous policy and nothing would be more politically prudent then that it assuages the hurt feelings of the people of the region by fulfilling its written commitment of setting up of AIIMS in Jammu. It is strange that only those who suffer defeat in Jammu become champions of Jammu and those who win election in Jammu become representatives and spokespersons of Kashmir, he said. Speaking on the occasion, senior advocate and former JKHCBA, Jammu, Bhupinder Singh Slathia, said that the authorities are testing the patience of the people of Jammu region but they should remember that they are dealing with the people of Jammu region who cannot be cowed down.
