Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 26: The MLA of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Muhammad Amin Bhat and his son had to face the wrath of the people at Banihal Railway station on Sunday when the MLA allegedly misbehaved with a passenger, sources told Early Times. They said that Bhat, MLA from south Kashmir's Devsar area, and his son were about to board the train when they misbehaved with a passenger. This infuriated the passenger and he reprimanded the MLA and his son. Other passengers present on the spot raised hue and cry and tried to corner the MLA. However, policemen saved the MLA from getting the public beating. "He was shifted from the area," sources said. A police official while talking to Early Times tried to down play the incident saying, "Scuffles take. When we reached the spot there was nothing," he said. Pertinently, people have been up in arms against the MLAs and ministers for promoting VIP culture and demanding privileges. Sources said, the MLA had expected that he would be treated specially when he reaches the Railway station but it didn't happen as hundreds of people were waiting to board the train. "They (MLAs) expect that special coaches should be reserved for them as they don't give a damn to what people face," said an analyst. While commenting on today's incident, a politician said, "It's unfortunate that power goes into the head of people. They forget that in democratic set up all are equal." |
