jAMMU, July 26: The women wing of Congress's today demanded resignation of the Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and the Forest Minister Bali Bhagat over the state government's "failure" to set up of an AIIMS in the region.
"We demand that the resignation of the Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat for their failure to fulfil the commitment they had made with the people of Jammu in connection with the setting of AIIMS in Jammu," president of state wing of Mahila Congress Indu Pawar said.
While raising slogans against BJP-PDP coalition, the activists accused the government of "discrimination" with the people of Jammu region.
"All the policies of this government have proven to be anti Jammu and the BJP which once claimed to be the champion of the cause of the people of Jammu have stabbed the people in the back," Pawar said.
She said that after the AIIMS shifted to Kashmir from Jammu, the BJP has no "right to stay in power" with PDP as the party won 25 seats in the Assembly elections on the promise of ending the "discrimination with the people of Jammu".
Questioning the slogan of "Acche Din", another activist of Mahila Congress said that it was a slogan of the BJP that would never see the light of the day.
"Acche Din was a mirage that the saffron party used to befool the people of the country, the problems of the people has increased many folds and its only Bure Din (Bad Days) which the common people of the country are facing," Lata Kumari, the activist said.
