Jammu, Aug 25 : The 46th KVS Regional Sports Meet in the disciplines of Volleyball, Throw Ball, and Jump Rope in girls section got underway at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sunjuwan, here today. The competition, wherein around 200 participants and 31 other escort members from J&K, parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are taking part, was declared open by Assistant Commissioner, KVS, Jammu Region, A S Gill. The opening day witnessed preliminary round of the competition across all the three disciplines under the guidance of technical teams. Earlier, Vice Principal of the institution, Sushma Jain, welcomed the distinguished gathering amidst cultural programme presented by young students of the host Vidyalaya. It was followed by the oath taking ceremony by the participating teams. Speaking to the gathering, the chief guest, A S Gill said that the students should take part in the meet with full zeal and sincerity, keeping in mind the spirit of sportsmanship. He added that the excellence achieved through hard work and practice has brought prosperity and good luck to a large number of players in our country. Later, Principal of the Vidyalaya, Manish Tuli blessed the participants and wished success in competition. |
