410 Kanals of Forest Land retrieved from 'twelve encroachers' in Ramban

Banihal, Aug 25: Continuing its anti-encroachment drive, the sleuths of Ramban Forest Division again foiled attempts by miscreants to encroach upon Forest land and retrieved approx 410 kanals of Forest land from the clutches of the twelve encroachers in village Hijwa (Mohumangit) area of Compartment number26/Banihal of Ramban Forest Division. Meantime in another operation Forest department sleuths seized illegal 48 scents of deodar and kail timber in two separate incidents under jurisdiction of Co.38/Banihal near Mohu Nallah.
According to official spokesperson the encroachers have been identified as Ghulam Rasool Surkh S/o Jamal; Ghulam Hassan Surkh S/o Gani Surkh; Ghulam Rasool Surkh S/o Lasoo Surkh; Abdullah Surkh S/o Rehman Surkh; Kamal Surkh S/o Mohd Surkh; Ali Mohd Surkh S/o Aziz Surkh; Ghulam Mohd Surkh S/o Rehman Surkh; Abdul Aziz Surkh S/o Ahamdoo Surkh; Abdul Rehman Surkh S/o Rehman Surkh; Shaban Surkh S/o Abdullah Surkh; Mohd Refeeq Surkh S/o Abdullah Surkh and Bashir Ahmed Surkh S/o Rehman Surkh (all residents of Hijwa Banihal of Ramban).
"The Forest land was encroached upon the encroachers by erecting structures (Dharas) and brush wood fencing to encroached area," he said.
Giving details he said that team of forest official from Ramban Forest Division constituted by Divisional Forest Officer Zuhaib Chowdhary, SFS led by Range Officer Banihal Angraj Singh retrieved the Forest land from the clutches of encroachers.
"The eviction process was successfully executed by Territorial Staff of Ramban Forest Division with assistance of Forest Protection Force and Police personnel in presence of executive Magistrate, official said and added, "the total Forest land of approximately 410 kanals was evicted from the clutches of above said encroachers."
He also added that above encroachers have even to dodge the departmental action against them have took the case to court of law where the Court has disposed off the case in favour of Forest department.
"Despite of facing stiff resistance from the hands of encroachers Forest team manage to evict old encroachment of 410 kanals of Forest land from the possession of encroachers, he said. He said that the encroachers were evicted after following the prescribed procedures as laid down in section 48(A) of J&K Forest Act.
The whole operation was closely monitored by the Conservator of Forests, Chenab Circle, Doda.
Meanwhile in another operation Ramban Forest Division seized illegal 48 scents of deodar and kail timber from two hideouts in the bottom area of Compartment 38/Banihal near Mohu Nullah under the direct supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Ramban.
