Hoax call about suspects creates panic in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 25: Panic gripped the Jammu city after the news of the presence of suspected militants near Dream land school spread like a wild fire however allegedly mentally unstable person has been picked up from Jagti area for the charges of making call to Police Control Room (PCR).
"Following a call received in Police Control Room (PCR) Tuesday morning regarding movement of suspected militants near Dream Land School in Janipur area alert was sounded and security forces immediately were rushed to the spot," Police sources said.
They further said that acting on the call police cordoned the said area took and launched a massive joint search operation along with Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Police officials said that the school authorities apprehending threat of militants' attack reportedly suspended the classes. Police sources said that later forces extended their search operation towards soap factory but in the afternoon it was suspended when nothing was found as the call turned to be hoax. After that manhunt was launched by police to nab the hoax caller and in the evening Upindar Pandit who was reportedly mentally unstable was picked from Jagti area. Whole day city residents were seen spreading messaging on social media and calling each other to now whereabouts their kins. In-charge Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Rajiv Pandey said, "There is no need to panic as the news of sighting suspects in Janipur area is completely false and the rumour". He further said that area was cordoned at around 0830 hrs and joint search operation was called off in the afternoon when nothing was found and the call turned to be hoax. SSP Jammu said the hoax caller has been identified namely as Upinder Krishan who is mentally upset and has developed some grudge against his owner where he used to live earlier and thus called police to trap his house owner.
