3 Kanals of forest land at 'prime location' retrieved in Sunjwan

Jammu, Aug 25: Continuing its anti-encroachment drive, the Forest Department today conducted Anti Encroachment drive to remove encroachment from Forest land in Sunjwan and retrieved 03 Kanals of forest land at prime location (Khasra No.371) from the clutches of encroachers.
According to official spokesperson, the anti encroachment operation was conducted in presence of Dr V S Senthil Kumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer Jammu alongwith Shahid Mahmood, Sub Divisional Magistrate South, Rafiq Manhas, Sub Divisional Police Officer East Narwal.
"The forest team headed by Ajeet Chander Range Officer Bahu has successfully removed the crate work laid on Nallah side in Khasra No.371 at Sunjwan, he said further adding, "the habitual encroacher despite the work being stopped by the field staff continuously on 07th, 08th and 24th of August again and again started developing the land by leveling it to construct illegal construction over the land." Official said, "During the drive about 120 feet long compound wall was also demolished. Around 200feet length crate which was constructed by encroachers was also dismantled. About 100feet length plinth structure raised by encroachers was also demolished."
"By this operation about 3 Kanal of forest land in Khasra No.371 was retrieved from the clutches of encroachers. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Roshan Jaggi, IFS Chief Conservator of Forests."
Meanwhile a request was sent by Range Officer Bahu to police to lodge FIR against encroachers namely Shokat Ali, Sharafat Hussain S/o Allah Rakha R/o Sunjwan and Abdul Majid S/o Mir Ali R/o Sunjwan while the Forest Offence Report (FOR) for violation of Section 6 of J&K Forest Act has also been registered.
When contacted Dr V.S.Senthil Kumar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer Jammu said that the forest land located in Khasra No.371 is in prime location and retrieved area will be fenced in due course of time and plantation will be carried out in future. He added that we are in process of preparing the history sheet against individual encroachers and once it is prepared, it will be submitted to competent authority for invoking stringent legal action against them.
