Chief Minister in New Delhi: 'Change of guard' on cards …?
PDP move to accommodate one MP as Minister gaining momentum again

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 30: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed's frequent visits to New Delhi are giving ground to the speculations that PDP is once again pushing its case with NDA to accommodate one of its MPs as minister in the Centre. Mufti Syed for the last two days is in Delhi and is expected to arrive in Jammu tomorrow in the state plane.
Sources said with PDP and BJP moving on in the alliance and overcoming the turbulent political weathers with ease, the message has gone too well , far and wide that the alliance government will not get distracted by external pulls nor succumb to opposition criticism on various fronts. The alliance government in all likelihood is going to complete full term as a matter of mutual understanding despite both allies having vertical differences on certain matters. Riding high on that wave of understanding, the PDP sources said is once again trying to explore its position in terms of managing a berth for one of its MPs in the NDA government. Chief Minister's visit to New Delhi is being seen as crucial in that direction, sources said things have been agreed upon by those at the helm in New Delhi.
Sources said for certain reasons PDP high Command wants change of guard in the state with speculations rife that party president who is also an MP Mehbooba Mufti is being seen as next incumbent in the chair for Chief Minister. It is only a matter of time that this will happen, said the sources adding that all is set internally for the change of guard move and things are gearing up fast in that direction. BJP which is in the steering wheel of power in Centre is learnt to have conveyed 'no objection' to PDP with consideration that it is purely internal matter of the party discretion of the high command to decide who should be in the chair.
However, before going ahead with this understandably highly significant move, the party leadership wants to keep everything in order within the organisation. The high command is actively pursuing the move to get one of its senior leaders and MP accommodated in the Union ministry. While this was in consideration earlier when alliance government came into being early this year, but it was later shelved for some political reasons by the party high command, said the sources. Now that the things are doing rounds with speed and some authenticity that Mehbooba Mufti may take over the reins of the state herself, this political bargain with the ally in power at centre is also gaining momentum.
