Early Times Report

Sunderbani, Sept 1: The traffic woes in Sunderbani are manifold. Not a single day passes peacefully when the commuters are not put to all hardships and that too under the very nose of administration that prefers to be mute spectators all the way.
The traffic movement from Sunderbani to various destinations around is marred with many hiccups, the foremost being the deliberate nonchalance of the traffic police that seems to be the part of felonious system all the way promoting corruption at all points.
To cite a few examples, this reporter watched the overloaded traffic movement on Sunderbani -Makol Mandir roadway where the overloaded minibuses take recourse to ferry passengers from one place to the other.
Though many nakas and check posts are erected at various places to track the illegal moving of overloaded buses, yet no concern is kept in place to check the menace that goes unabated.
It is alleged by the commuters on board these buses who lament that even the traffic cops turn their faces off when they see the overloaded buses, obviously having taken bribe from them.
This reporter even was witness to many instances when he came across the district traffic inspector Tarsem Lal manning a check post on Sunderbani-Siot route and immediately after seeing the overloaded minibus coming towards his post, left the spot in his santro car, apparently to give sagfe passage to the culprit.
When asked about his act of disgust, Tarsem Lal had no specific answer, but said he is doing his job properly.
It is pertinent to mention here that out of 200 vehicles that ply on different venues from Sunderbani to Upper Hattal, Makol Mandir, Siot, Langar and Thanda Pani, fifty percent of these are without documents and move overloaded without any ado.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ravi Kant took the cognizance of the matter with severe concern.
He said all erring officers in this regard would be put to punishment and the system rectified at all cost.
"This is quite unfortunate if this type of system is in vogue. I would immediately take action against this malpractice and any body found guilty will be booked under the provisions of the law," said Ravi Kant.
He assured that overloading and checking of documents would be done properly to streamline the system.
