Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 1: Pak national and LeT founder Hafiz Saeed, who had shared stage with JKLF militant Yasin Malik, now a separatist leader, when he was in Pakistan some time back, has been sighted in the neighbouring country's border areas.
He has been sighted six to seven times in the Pakistan's border areas across R S Pura, Arnia and Samba sub-sectors of Jammu. It is believed that he is camping in the Pak areas close to International Border (IB) to boost the morale of LeT militants who were waiting for an opportune moment to cross over into the Indian territory to give impetus to the otherwise flagging militancy.
Official sources said Pakistan had Thursday last shifted its border residents to safer places and increased the strength of Rangers along their side of the IB. "Its border people have still not returned homes. Hafiz also continues to move from one border area of Pakistan to another. All this shows that Pakistan is preparing to heavily shell the Jammu borders and may attempt to push militants under the cover of fire," sources said.
In view of these developments across the IB, Intelligence Bureau was said to have alerted BSF and other border agencies to exercise high alert along the IB and the LoC, the sources added.
Sources said, when Pakistan Thursday last shelled Arnia villages, killing three persons, including two women, it had already vacated its Umrawali, Kunjpur, Suragpur, Chaprar, Nandpur, Putwal, Chumia and Rumm villages that fall across Arnia to avoid civilian casualities in retaliatory fire by India.
Announcements were also being made from the loudspeakers in mosques, asking people to stay away from their border fields. While Indian farmers were going to their fields after the recent heavy Pak shelling and firing, there was no activity in the Pak's border fields, the sources informed.
"We have put our border troops on high alert because when Hafiz was last time sighted in the border areas of Pakistan, Pak Regulars had ambushed two army jawans in Poonch sector, beheading one of them," sources said.
