Early Times Report
Mandi Nov 17: Patients and visitors to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Mandi are getting a nightmarish experience as it presents a very gloomy picture of medicare with acute shortage of medical staff and basic medicines indicating that all is not well with the District Hospital (DH) Poonch.
Sources within SDH Mandi said, the only hospital catering the needs of the huge population is working with short of sanctioned staff and medicines.
"Be it BMO's dictatorship or untrained paramedic staff and non availability of prescribed free medicines -everything is making things from bad to worst at SDH Mandi, they added.
"Moreover the private practice culture is also giving a hard blow to the health care system at this hospital, sources said and alleged that health services are also declining due private clinics as many private laboratories have mushroomed in the area and touts of these clinics roaming in SDH Mandi lure them to go to these private labs for clinical or any other diagnostic test.
Founder member of "Insaaf movement" an NGO, Javid Reshi, said that he personally has taken up the this matter with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Poonch although he has assured to take action in this regard but things yet haven't changed till now and poor people of Mandi are suffering due to callous approach of concerned authorities.
Irked over poor health services at SDH Mandi, the locals alleged that they don't expect any action from the BMO Mandi, whom they alleged himself has succumbed to nexus of private health clinics secondly the conditions of the clinics laboratories of govt hospital in the district is in shamble.
On speaking about NRHM schemes Reshi said that this scheme has totally failed to provide the basic health facilities to the poor people of the area.
Another member of NGO condemned these mal-activities and requested district administration and state government to intervene to restore the faith in 'white aprons'.
