Where is BJP's bandookwali Hina Bhat?
11/18/2015 12:42:21 AM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 17: The BJP's boondookwali Hina Bhat has not spoken for more than three months now. Where is she? Has she left the BJP? She was the party's face for months after she joined the BJP at Srinagar on the eve of the Assembly elections in 2014. She used to represent the BJP on national televisions. She was the one who used to explain what the BJP's policy, programmes and ideology were and none ever dared to question what she used to say about the BJP and its Kashmir policy. Indeed, she acted the BJP's chief spokesperson for months together, despite the fact that she was not the party's spokesperson.
In fact, she was so powerful in the party that she made the BJP not to release its election manifesto because it contained a reference to Article 370. The BJP had planned to release its manifesto on November 19 or so but it decided otherwise after Hina Bhat declared on November 14 that she would pick up gun in case any attempt was made to scrap Article 370 or tinker with it.
"We are focused on the Assembly elections to accomplish 'Mission 44'. We are not talking about Article 370 and its abrogation. The Article will not be touched and it is not in BJP's (yet-to-be released) manifesto to scrap the Article," said Hina Bhat, BJP's candidate from Amirakadal, who lost her security deposit. "If the Article was touched, it would force Kashmiris to pick up guns again. And you know I am a Kashmiri too," she had also said, and added that "scrapping Article 370 would be construed as a move against the sentiments of people of the State". She didn't speak only for Kashmir; she spoke for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Not only this, she had also said: "PM Narendra Modi Ji has said we will discuss and debate Article 370. Nowhere, has anyone talked about its removal. The BJP's opponents are making the Article an issue to instill fear among the public. But they know the Article will not be removed by anyone".
Hina Bhat had made these statements after BJP leader and Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh told media persons in Jammu that the BJP's stand on Article 370 was "very clear" and "all issues, including Article 370, which have been part of the BJP manifesto all these years, will be part of their agenda in the State". That she was so confident that the BJP will not touch the issue of Article 370 became clear when the BJP took decision not to release its election manifesto. Such was her position in the party.
People have started asking "where has this bandookwali Hina Bhat gone?" It is only natural. After all, Hina Bhat was not a very "important" BJP leader.
