Early Times Report Srinagar , Nov 17 : Over 500 patients, including women and children, were treated and provided free medicine at a medical camp organised by Army in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel NN Joshi said, "A Medical cum Veterinary Camp was organised by the Army under the aegis of Chinar Corps at village Kushal Colony, Tulibal in Baramulla. "This was in response to the constant request by the locals of the area for medical attention as they found it difficult to get medical cover, being in remote area," he said. Col Joshi said a joint team of doctors from Army and State Health Department, including female doctors, nursing assistant and paramedics participated in providing medical assistance to over 500 people. Handouts on Himayat project launched by Government of India were also distributed and a lecture on Health & Hygiene' was conducted, he said, adding various other stalls, including a stall on HDFC Life Insurance and HP Gas Agency was also on display for the benefit of the locals. "The Army has been regularly organising medical camps in Baramulla district. The general populace in these areas is greatly benefited by these camps as there is a lack of medical facilities in these areas. These camps also help in establishment of a rapport between the locals and personnel. The continuous and relentless efforts of Army behind conducting of such camps have been greatly appreciated and lauded by the public," he claimed. |
