Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 17: Jammu Municipality Corporation launched cleanliness drive in Shastri Nagar and Nai Basti areas here today. According to press release, the cleanliness campaign was led by R.S. Jamwal, KAS, Joint Commissioner (A) Municipal Corporation Jammu alongwith Dr. Saleem Khan Health Officer, JMC, Sanitation Officer, Assistant Sanitation Officer, Sanitary Inspector and supervisory staff on the directions of Mandeep Kaur (IAS) Commissioner JMC. On this occasion, a large number of locals were also involved in this awareness cum cleanliness drive to make it a mass movement and the area has been cleaned thoroughly. The Transport Officer was directed by Joint Commissioner (Adm) to clear/desilt the nullahs of the area as pointed out by locals. The JMC once again appeals to one & all to come forward and be a pride participant in this awareness/cleanliness drive to make it a mass movement so that "Swachh Bharat is a reality" in coming days. JMC also appeals to general public to avoid using polythene as polythene is the major cause of pollution because polythene never decompose due to which pollution spreads our surroundings, and do not throw it into the nallahs/lanes/drains, throwing of polythene causes choking of nullahs. |
